Thoughts on Living in Ancient China If I was a a member of an Ancient Chinese family, a description of my life would be basically obeying the eldest male. Being a woman in my family, I would not have many privileges. I would have to leave my family and move into my husbands family's home soon after marriage. This would be very sad since most Chinese girls married very young. I would then have to obey his mother and his other wives no matter what they said. Of course I would have to obey my husband too. If my husband died I would then have to listen to and obey my sons. This is so different from the United States where I live. Here I can respect who I want to, and being disrespectful does not bring shame on my entire family. Samara P-M
If I lived in Ancient China I would have many things to do. The first duty is always to family. I would have to obey the oldest male in the family. I would probably have many chores to do. Much more than I have now. If I was poor I would probably have to help in the fields with the crops in addition to doing household chores. When I got married i would have to move to my husband's family and respect the wishes of my mother-in-law.. This is how life would be for me if i lived in Ancient China Erika V. If I was a member of an Ancient Chinese family, these are some of the responsibilities of my life. I would have to live in an extended family. This means that I would live with my grandparents, great grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles, and siblings. I would be lucky to be born a boy. It would be easy for me because in Ancient Chinese families the women would have to obey the men. If we were rich, I would get to go to school and be educated. Girls did not have that opportunity-neither did the poor. Cristian S. If I was a part of an Ancient Chinese family, I don't think I would follow the rules. I can't see myself taking on so many responsibilities and taking orders from my son or husband. Also leaving my family to officially become part of my husbands does not appeal to me. I would probably be one of those women trying to change the law. Takira B.
